Facing Germany in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 Championship final, Ella Toone scored the first goal, followed by Chloe Kelly’s nail-biting kick during extra time that secured England’s 2-1 win. As a result, the Lionesses broke the near six-decade curse, winning the first major international trophy since the 1966 World Cup. Not only that, but the final was the highest attended Euros match ever, topping attendance at the 2021 Euros with 87,192 people in Wembley’s stands.
